William Xavier Carey - born, February 28, 1853 in South Canaan, PA to Micheal Carey and Catherine, both born in Ireland.   He married Sarah Enslin, daughter of Mary Cary (daughter of Miner Cary, b. 1789) and Enos Enslin in 1882 when she was 16 and he was 29.  They had four children and Sarah died at the age of 28.  William was a farmer and was dragged by a bull during a severe winter storm and left out in the fields.  As a result, he had both legs amputated.   He died in 1916 and lived most of his adult life with his daughter Kate Carey Brennan in Carbondale, PA.
